3Deling performed 3D ​​laser scanning of the castle ruins along with the earlier rebuilt Gdanisko. The final product of our work were metric images so called orthophoto of remaining ruins in RGB colors and an animation showing point cloud – result for 3d scanning. The client also obtained a crude point cloud data with a free version of Pointools ViewPro. This information could be stored on electronic media and used some time later to perform a full architectural CAD inventory of laser scanned facility. The combination of 3D laser scanning with precise survey of control points resulted in high accuracy data the global deviation of registered point cloud should not exceed 5mm.

In addition to the standard laser scanning we took images that later in the process were used to color the point cloud. We also created high resolution ortho images (metric images) of the front facades which can be used by restorers to assess the damage of walls. For both tasks coloring and ortho generation we implemented our new methodology that combines two elements of the accuracy of the final product and the relatively low amount of work which means lower cost.

Use of 3d laser scanning in combination with traditional measurements, allowed to generate orthophotoplans of each side walls and arch in the colours of the intensity of the reflected signal. Orthophotoplans interpretations have greatly facilitated the stain and allowed the precise localisation of infiltrations , which will be sealed.
In addition to the orthophotoplans we prepared traditional side walls views, ground plan plan view, and sections trough the whole tunnel at intervals of five meters. Client also received a final point cloud in “pod” format and free version of “Pointools View Pro”- a software which allowed visualization of the point cloud, rotations,measurements between elements. The global accuracy of point cloud is no worse than + / – 5 mm.

An essential element of the preparation of 3D mapping is a “fit into” the display of graphics in the shape of the building, which will display the image, so it’s important to prepare earlier precise three-dimensional model of the object. 3D mapping show took place in winter 2010 and the final presentation could be seen here >>

We decided to set up few scanner positions on a mobile crane.
In addition to Cad drawings we were asked to color scan points using RGB colors, the coloring was our pilot project, the results we present below.

Additionally we generated point cloud sections that were used to produce floor plans.
Applying just 3d scanning in production often required in the National Heritage orthoimages appeared to be very cost effective in compression to digital fotogrametry.
