<div class="embedtext1">Yet another project of ours involving <a title="heritage documentation" href="http://www.3deling.com/photogrammetry-point-cloud-gniew/" target="_self">heritage documentation</a> of  Teutonic Order fortress by means of new technology &#8211; 3d scanning.<br />
Castle in Toruń was founded at the end of thirteenth century and is the oldest fortress of the Teutonic Order in Poland. Initially the dormitory and a chapel on a south wing was erected. Then built an octagonal tower, chapter house, a well and sanitary tower called Gdaniskiem (in order to express his contempt for the free city of Gdańsk). At the beginning of the fifteenth century, the castle was expanded and strengthened its fortifications. In 1454, the townspeople of Toruń conquered the castle and at the direction of the City Council it was destroyed.
</div>
<div class="embedtext">3Deling performed 3D laser scanning of the castle ruins along with the earlier rebuilt Gdanisko. The final product of our work were metric images so called orthophoto of remaining ruins in RGB colors and an animation showing point cloud – result for 3d scanning. The client also obtained a crude point cloud data with a free version of Pointools ViewPro. This information could be stored on electronic media and used some time later to perform a full architectural CAD inventory of laser scanned facility. The combination of 3D laser scanning with precise survey of control points resulted in high accuracy data the global deviation of registered point cloud should not exceed 5mm.</div>

<div class="embedtext1">Castle of the Teutonic Knights Order in Gniew was erected on square plan in the XII and XIV century, it is the most powerful stronghold on the left bank of the Vistula river. Originally inhabited by the Teutonic commanders and then rebuilt several times and it changed it&#8217;s purpose for a granary, and later for prison. It was burned in the Great Fire of 1921. The fortress since 1968 has been successively rebuilt and restored, so now it&#8217;s open for public it also holds many performances and productions of historical and tournaments. </div>
<div class="embedtext">Orthophoto of elevation was created form a very accurate 3d point cloud data and high-resolution digital photos which by means of the proper photogrammetric methods have been converted to the orthogonal views. Pixel size of the metric image equal to 2.5 mm provides a very convenient and accurate plans for conservator works. Additional ortho generated from point cloud highlights some details that are not visible on an RGB image. All are metric images have datums in local co-ordinate system and may become a basis for measuring length and area.</div>

<div class="embedtext1">Sugar plant in Slutsk alongside such factories like: Gorodeya, Skidel Zhabinka is one of the largest sugar producer in Belarus. The official data for the year 2009 states that the daily capacity of Slutsk sugar plant is eight thousand tons. The design works that are currently underway that plan to expand this capacity to ten thousand tons per day.<br />
In January 2011 our company performed 3D laser scanning of structural elements and inner equipment of the factory building. We set up 576 individual scans individual scan positions along the 3d scanning we carried out precise measurement of control points. The whole scan data has been registered into a single coordinate system with the global registration accuracy lower than 5mm.<br />
The data we obtained will be used to create 3D model of entire plant. We have also generated a TruViews of each scan position. This data format is supported by a free Internet Explorer plug-in provided by Leica Geosystems. It allows for viewing point cloud data, displaying global co-ordinates of each selected point and distance measurements of any selected objects in the space.</div>
<div class="embedtext">The client decided to create the 3d CAD model himself we provided necessary help and trainings in implementing new software.<br />
The data from the scanner can directly be used to generate floor plans and sections at any height and in any direction through the whole scanned object. What is more it also can be used to create intelligent 3D models in CAD, PDS, PDMS, Smart Plant, etc formats. Once surveyed, you can measure and store the archive in digital form and it can be reused in case of future redevelopment or refurbishment.<br />
3D laser scanning surveys allow to obtain a complete spatial information about the object in a very short time without interruption to production process and with with accuracy of a few millimeters. Such parameters are unachievable using conventional methods of measurements.</div>

<div class="embedtext1">3d scanning of outside structure of the monastery in Skalbmierz took less than one day. In such a short time we managed to obtain full spatial data of the object there data later could be used to plot precise floor plans, sections and elevation views. If necessary these data can be converted in to 3D CAD model. The first deliverable of 3d scanning process – point cloud can be reused at any time, for example to the faithful reproduction of the object in case of fire or flood. </div>
<div class="embedtext">In addition to the standard laser scanning we took images that later in the process were used to color the point cloud. We also created high resolution ortho images (metric images) of the front facades which can be used by restorers to assess the damage of walls. For both tasks coloring and ortho generation we implemented our new methodology that combines two elements of the accuracy of the final product and the relatively low amount of work which means lower cost.</div>

<div class="embedtext1">Just after we purchased 3d laser scanner Riegl VZ-400 we ventured to do 3d laser scanning of a telecom tower in Kraków &#8211; Podgorze, Poland. This object is 62 meter high and was built in 1965, it is a property of TP EmiTel. We have done very similar project <a title="High-Definition Laser Scanning" href="http://www.3deling.com/reverse-engineering-telecommunication-masts/" target="_self">hds laser scanning of a telecom tower</a> in Scotland, this was only a test project aimed to check scanner performance and possibly show the results to the owner company. There are many advantages of using 3d laser scanner to measure this kind of object: We received a huge amount of data in such a short time ( the whole measurement took 6 hours),</div>

<div class="embedtext1">In October 2010 in cooperation with Krakow University of Technology we made a experimental survey of the railway infrastructure facilities at the Słomniki station. The purpose of the measurements was to determine the feasibility of 3d laser scanning for verifying the gauge consistency of tracks. We used a Riegl VZ-400 3D laser scanner with a scan range of up to 500 meters. All data (represented as point clouds) were registered into one coordinate system. Medium registration error / point cloud fitting was ± 5mm.</div>
<div class="embedtext">One main advantage of 3D laser scanning is the speed and precision with which we can take measurements. Scanning produces a continuous representation of the measured area, making a complete and easily transmittable record which can be used for a variety of applications from design to repair to planning. Another advantage of laser scanning is that we can make all the measurements without stopping the train.</div>

<div class="embedtext1">In June 2010 3Deling has performed a 3d laser scanning of col propelled power plant in Warsaw. The plant is undergoing a mayor refurbishment. The scan data was collected in a very short time, without any interruption to process performance. The final product we delivered was a registered point cloud in a .pod (pointools) file format of an inside and outside structures of a power plant building.</div>
<div class="embedtext">The client needed to build a new pollution filters. The design team works in AutoCad and requested deliverable in a CAD format. We managed to persuade the client to much more cost effective solution. Using <a title="pointools model" href="http://www.3deling.com/pointools-model-dla-autocad/" target="_self">Pointools Model </a>software the point cloud we delivered was displayed in the AutoCad environment. After short training that also we provided the designers were able reference a new structures to the existing ones (represented by the point cloud)</div>

<div class="embedtext1">Kuwait Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) plans to expand Kuwait International Airport to increase its capacity to 20 million passengers a year from 6 million.<br />
The expansion project involves the construction of a new terminal building that will be connected to the existing terminal building via a tunnel, the two existing runways will be extended up to 600 meters and a third runway will be constructed. In August 2010, the design of the terminal building was completed by Foster and Partners.</div>
<div class="embedtext">Also existing terminal building is currently under huge refurbishment project. It will be extended and the whole building claded using aluminum panels. 3deling was selected to provide detailed drawings of the ground floor and roof plan and all external facades of this facility.<br />
All panels had to fit existing structure it is why accuracy was so important.<br />
We adopted 3d scanning method and also used precise total station to achieve fine global accuracy. There were 185 single scan positions and about 250 survey stations established.<br />
A final data was orientated to National Kuwait Coordinate System using gps method</div>

<div class="embedtext1">In Summer 2010 we carried out 3d laser scanning of tunnel (gallery) of pumped-storage water power plant in Porąbka, Poland. This power plant is a second largest pumped-storage water power plant in Poland and was constructed in 1979. The gallery is 470 meters long, the average width is about 5.5 meters and height up to 6 meters. The difference in height between the gate and the plant chamber is 48.92 m. There are numerous stains and infiltrations on the walls and arch of tunnel showing considerable humidity of the object. In the coming months sealing work will be carried out &#8211; using the “crystalline injection technology&#8221;.
</div>
<div class="embedtext">Use of 3d laser scanning in combination with traditional measurements, allowed to generate orthophotoplans of each side walls and arch in the colours of the intensity of the reflected signal. Orthophotoplans interpretations have greatly facilitated the stain and allowed the precise localisation of infiltrations , which will be sealed.<br />
In addition to the orthophotoplans we prepared traditional side walls views, ground plan plan view, and sections trough the whole tunnel at intervals of five meters. Client also received a final point cloud in “pod” format and free version of “Pointools View Pro”- a software which allowed visualization of the point cloud, rotations,measurements between elements. The global accuracy of point cloud is no worse than + / &#8211; 5 mm.

<div class="embedtext1">In Summer 2010 we visited Beirut. The purpose of the visit was to carry our a 3D scanning of UFA Assurances building and the execution of its three-dimensional model. The precise 3D model will help our client to prepare a multimedia presentation that appears on this site.<br />
This modern technology, multimedia show called 3D mapping consists of displaying 3D animation and graphical presentation on the objects with irregular shapes.</div>
<div class="embedtext">An essential element of the preparation of 3D mapping is a &#8220;fit into&#8221; the display of graphics in the shape of the building, which will display the image, so it&#8217;s important to prepare earlier precise three-dimensional model of the object. 3D mapping show took place in winter 2010 and the final presentation could be seen <a title="3d mapping " href="http://vimeo.com/18236800" target="_blank">here &gt;&gt;</a></div>

<div class="embedtext1">Train station in Gdynia is one of the biggest railway stations in Poland. Was destroyed during the II World War. New station, designed by prof. Waclaw Tomaszewski was built in the fifties. The complex consists of a station building and railway station connected by covered walkway. In the basement of the station there are two air-raid shelters. Refurbishment project of this complex worth 30 mln euro is going to take place in the middle of next year.</div>
<div class="embedtext">Due to the fact that this station is a historic building, the designers cannot introduce significant changes to external shape, but the interior is to be changed beyond recognition. In Autum 2009 3deling had made a detailed inventory of this building complex and also made 3D model of this complex.<br />
We applied 3D laser scanning technology combined with precise measurements. The final product contains floor plans of cellars (shelters), ground floor, floors 1 to 4, and roofs. We also drow nine main sections and all facades.</div>

<div class="embedtext1">In June 2009 3deling won a contract to perform the elevation surveys of Teatr Polski (The Polish Theatre) in Warsaw. Built in 1913 and later reconstructed after the devastation of the 2nd world war, this building is listed as a national Polish heritage site. The project&#8217;s high demand for precise conservational detail and accuracy made it a perfect fit for 3d laser scanning. </div>
<div class="embedtext"> We used a Faro LS 420 laser scanner and a Leica 1001 totalstation and managed to complete all necessary surveys in one visit. Processing data, data preparation, point cloud registration rendering the elevation drawing took us 3 weeks. Below you will find photos from the measurement studies and examples of the rendering.</div>
